Danielle Salvia, MSW, LCSW

Danielle Salvia, MSW, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in the treatment of children, adolescents and families at Centra, PC. Danielle earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Biological and Evolutionary Psychology and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University. After graduating she began working in the field of mental health as a residential counselor at Carrier Clinic’s Intensive Residential Treatment Services program for adolescents. It was there that her love to help children and adolescent with mental health needs began. Danielle went on to earn a Masters of Social Work and complete a certificate program in Violence Against Women and Children from Rutgers University. Danielle also gained experience providing group therapy at a domestic violence shelter.
Danielle has practiced individual, group and family psychotherapy with children and adolescents for over half a decade. She uses a strength based approach when working with her clients. She believes it is extremely important to build a therapeutic relationship with both her client as well as their family in order to empower change.
Danielle currently works as a School Social Worker at Garfield Park Academy (an alternative school for children who have struggled in mainstream education). Danielle works with students from kindergarten to 3rd grade using play therapy techniques. Her students often struggle with concerns ranging from disruptive behaviors/ADHD/ADD to social skill struggles/Autism spectrum to mood & anxiety disorders.
Prior to her time at Centra, PC, Danielle worked as a residential therapist at Legacy Treatment Services from 2014-2018. Danielle provided individual, group and family therapy at various levels of care. She worked at a Psychiatric Community Home with adolescent boys and helped open New Jersey’s first Crisis Stabilization and Assessment Program for the young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She also has worked at a Specialty Intensity of Services program with adolescent girls who have experience trauma. Danielle also provided intensive in-home therapy to clients and families as an independent contractor from 2016-2019. Through these experiences, she has comfort in helping families through any crisis that may arise.
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy training as well as Advanced Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy training through the CARES Institute.
